India Wide Parents Association (IWPA) has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi seeking the cancellation of the tests due to the rising pandemic situation in the country. Requesting PM Modi to reconsider the decision on 12th Board Exams 2021, the Parents Association suggested that students can be evaluated based on their past performance. Colleges, if required, can have an aptitude test.

Earlier last month, CBSE had postponed the class 12 board exams, scheduled to begin from May 4, and had said that a final decision would be taken on June 1. “A notice of at least 15 days will be given before the start of the examinations,” the board had said while announcing the postponement.
Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal chaired the meeting on May 17, 2021, and during the meeting, Pokhriyal and state education secretaries held discussions over the impact of a pandemic on education at the school level


“No discussion on canceling school boards were taken up,” said an official who was present during the meeting.

The union minister discussed at length the present situation, online education, preparedness of all states regarding the same as well as implementation of National Education Policy, NEP 2020. 

While many were speculating an announcement regarding CBSE 12th Board Exams 2021, no announcement regarding the Cancellation of CBSE 12th Board exams. In the meeting, however, the topic of the examination was brought up and Education Minister has sought suggestions from states regarding the pending exams. 

The Human Resource Development Ministry will be taking the final decision regarding the examination by June. On Sunday, Union Minister of Education Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ took to Twitter and said that he will be virtually attending the meeting with State Education Secretaries on Monday. However, it still remains unknown as to how the Board Exams for Class 12 will be conducted or if they will be conducted at all.
